Talk about attraction without making assumptions
Express interest directly while respecting the other person’s language and comfort.
Make the compliment personal
Say what caught your attention: their humour, style or the way they described an interest. Avoid treating a trans person as a category or assuming a sexual role from their appearance. Attraction to someone does not give you access to details about their body.
Ask before changing the tone
If a conversation becomes flirtatious, check whether that direction is welcome. “Would you be comfortable talking about attraction?” is clearer than suddenly sending intimate material. A positive response to one topic does not mean every topic or image is welcome.
Discuss preferences without pressure
When both people want to discuss intimacy, use the terms each person prefers and listen to limits. Do not infer anatomy, experiences or desires from a gender label. If someone hesitates or changes their mind, change the subject or stop; there is no need to persuade them.
